Lingo Woman's Trados Studio 2009 tips: Copying tags from source language segment to target language segment

There are two things you can do here:
  • Copy over a single tag
  • Copy over a pair of tags
Both are very easy. Here's how you do it...

In the Editor window, do one of the following:
  1. For a single tag - Click inside the target segment at the exact point you want to tag to be copied to.
  2. For a pair of tags - In the target segment, select the text you want to enclose in tags.
Next, if you hover the cursor over the source segment tag (or one half of the pair of tags, if you are copying a pair) and press the ctrl key you will see that the tag is highlighted (in the case of a tag pair, the text it encloses will also be highlighted).

While you are still holding down the ctrl key, click on the source tag you are hovering over and the single tag or tag pair will be inserted into the target segment at the point where you located your cursor or selected the text in points 1 and 2 above!

Yours truly,
Lingo Woman
